Prosecutor: Englewood Traffic Stop Reveals Fentanyl; Driver Charged

A narcotics investigation launched by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s office led to the arrest of a 49-year-old man who was busted with five kilograms of Fentanyl and nearly $6,000 in alleged drug money.

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of Bronx resident Louis Vasquez, who is facing multiple charges following the investigation, which was led by Chief Robert Anzilotti.

Calo said that on Tuesday, Feb. 13, police stopped Vasquez’s car in Englewood as part of the investigation. During the subsequent traffic stop, a search of Vasquez’s vehicle led to the discovery of five kilograms of Fentanyl in an electronically operated aftermarket hidden compartment, as well as $5,938 in suspected drug proceeds.

Vasquez was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a dangerous controlled substance, uttering a false government document, impersonation and identity theft. Following arraignment, Vasquez was remanded to the Bergen County Jail. He is due back in court on Friday to answer the charges.
